Meerlust, the aristocrat of all wine estates in South Africa, is the pride of the Myburgh family who have been making fine wines there since 1756. Today, Hannes Myburgh, the present owner continues the great family tradition. Meerlust is the name of a red wine elite. The soils of the estate consist mostly of decomposed granite mixed with clay.

Of the 300 hectares in the estate, 200 hectares have been planted with the noble red varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Pinot Noir – each vinified at the estate and all producing wines of fruity elegance in a class of their own.
