The estate of Bodegas Valdemar in Oyón (Rioja, Alavesa) is a family owned company with roots going back to 1869. Carlos Martinez Bujanda currently heads up the winery which is one of the most modern and technologically advanced wineries in Europe. They own 400 hectares of vineyards with 9 different grape varieties planted in the three sub regions of the Rioja DOC.

They are a dynamic company and have been pioneers in developing new styles of wines in Rioja and Spain. They have two different styles of wines in the company – Conde de Valdemar and Inspiración Valdemar.

Bodegas Valdemar has renewed the Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection seal, a certification that recognises a genuine and ongoing commitment to a more sustainable way of working.
Maintaining this certification requires passing regular audits and meeting demanding criteria in key areas such as carbon footprint reduction, energy efficiency, responsible water and waste management, as well as social and governance aspects. This recognition highlights the work we carry out within our 360º Sustainability model, with tangible progress such as emissions reduction, the use of renewable energy and the protection of biodiversity in their vineyards.
