FAMILY

Pisano belongs to the group of small family vignerons with an artisan tradition of making wines that reflect the character of the land and the people who make them.

Family hands cultivate the grapes, taking away excess crops in productive years, taking leaves away to expose the bunches to the sun for better maturation and skin colour.

Small quantities of each variety allow to wait the perfect maturation to the last day. The picking of the early maturing varieties is the 10th of February and by beginning of April the last grapes are collected.

“Our philosophy is to have a family-sized production, and for our wines to reflect ourselves as people as well as our land and climate. Pisano Family Vineyards are unique because of the people behind each bottle.”

TANNAT

Uruguay means River of Painted Birds in the native language of Guarani. Amongst the rolling hills and thousands of small rivers, birds live freely and fish are abundant. Resting on the Atlantic Ocean between 30º and 35º parallel Uruguay shares the same latitude with the ultimate wine–growing regions of the Southern Hemisphere. The cool weather, rolling hills and maritime climate make it especially fit for the cultivation of the fine grapes.

The celebrated Tannat was first introduced into Uruguay in 1870 by Basque immigrants becoming “the national grape”, perfectly adapted to the soil and climate. Considered an exotic variety, it is the most widely planted at the moment. It gives very present tannins, which allow keeping them for a long time.

Its best wine is rich and vigorous, and it develops great complexity when aged in bottle during many years. This vivid, concentrated red shows how brightly Tannat can shine in Uruguay.
