‘Shaking up your Wine List’

Jan recently won the 2015 Imbibe Wine list of the year – Sommelier award for his exciting new list at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.  After years of working on the wine selection for restaurant Gordon Ramsay he had to take the next step… The layout and presentation needed work to make the guest experience better and match the selection of wines on the list.

He went through different stages and questioned what is great and what had to be improved. He also asked what do we want to highlight and what do we need to do to make it more exciting to all kinds of customers. The result is a powerful tool for guests to find or discover what they like and for the sommeliers to sell wine.

Jan will take guests through his thought process and will also be available for one on one reviews of your wine list (*by booking only*).  He has also selected a selection of Febvre wines for tasting after the talk.

Born in Lueneburg, Germany in 1980, Jan trained as a baker, waiter and bartender before discovering that his passion and talent in wine. He started his career in Michelin starred restaurants in 2004 and joined Gordon Ramsay Holdings in 2007. Jan quickly worked his way to three stars through his time spent at Maze, Maze Grill and Claridge’s arriving at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in 2009.

– 2013 Harpers’s award best Sommelier/front of house of the year.

– Moet UK sommelier of the year 2012.

– 2012 The restaurant’s wine-list was awarded with Le Prix le Montrachet, Prestige.
